San Diego-based ComStream has introduced its new VSATPlus II Network Terminal, the newest unit in the firm's line of StreamLine family networking products. VSATPlus II is a modular, multi-service satellite terminal supporting voice, data and video applications and offers full-mesh connectivity, reconfigurability, service-on-demand and other features. The unit, company executives said, will cost approximately $20,000-30,000 per unit. Unlike conventional VSAT terminals which revolve around a central hub, a VSATPlus II unit can operate in a star, mesh, broadcast or hybrid networks configuration. The unit also supports Demand Assigned Multiple Access (DAMA) services for voice, data and video. Up to three modular, multichannel interface cards can be added to the terminal for virtually any combination of voice, facsimile, telex, data and video services on an integrated platform.
