ComVentures, a Palo Alto venture capital firm, last week closed its newest fund, ComVentures IV, at $280 million.
ComVentures CEO Roland Van der Meer said the majority of the new fund will be invested in communications, Internet infrastructure and
e-commerce investments.
The firm's previous funds have focused on companies in the communications infrastructure space, which includes Internet and telecommunications technologies.
The new fund also coincides with a name change from Communications Ventures to a simpler ComVentures.
"People were shortening it to 'ComVentures' anyway, so it's riot a significant change," Mr. Van der Meer said.
