Take a look inside this gigantic Coppa's Fresh Market store, just north of Toronto
FOOD HAS ALWAYS BEEN IMPORTANT IN THE COPPA HOUSEHOLD. "Our love of food came from my father's mother, Nonna Francesca. Her philosophy was based on taking quality ingredients and preparing them in a way that brings joy to any table," says John Louie Coppa, president of Coppa's Fresh Market. For as long as he can remember, dinner was a time to talk and to share life's greatest moments. As he got older, it was also an opportunity to discover new tastes and ideas that could be brought to customers.
The Coppa family has been in the grocery business for more than six decades. Brothers Charles and Louie (John's father) opened their first store, on Toronto's Queen Street West, in 1963. Growing up, the brothers worked at local grocer, Knob Hill Farms, developing their passion for the industry. Eventually, they had the opportunity to purchase the store, and renamed it Highland Farms.
