Prior to about 1870 no consideration was given to the chemical elements copper, manganese and zinc as plant nutrients. In 1872, M. A. LeClere made a study of the Manganese content of many soils and plants and found this element as a constituent of the dry weight of all plants analyzed occuring in the roots, stems and fruits.
Careful review of the parts played by Manganese leads to the conclusion that Manganese performs an important part in the building of bones and musticular tissue. Manganese also is known to improve the hatchability of eggs with an improvement in eggshell formation. This also aids in the formation of the vital body hormones.
