An early UN role equipped Inmarsat's corporate events organiser well for the job's global span.
'Working for the United Nations in Kenya was amazing. My colleagues were from all over the world and we knew we were doing something good for developing countries,' says Shirin Dhala, now head of events at Inmarsat, a global satellite telecommunications company, based in London.
Dhala first stepped into the events industry when she began working for the United Nations Centre for Human Settlements, helping to organise key UN meetings in Kenya, Gabon and Turkey.
She then relocated to Canada for four years, continuing to organise small events for Pricewaterhousecoopers.
Satellite launch
Inmarsat launched the first of its next generation Global Xpress satellites into orbit in December and we invited 360 staffand their families to our London headquarters to watch the broadcast from Russia. The event celebrated a three-year, pounds 1bn investment....
