Abstract
In November 2001, Baker Hughes Inc., in joint venture with Sequal Holdings Inc., formed PETRECO International Ltd., which includes the complete portfolio of Baker Process Oil and Gas, the company that was awarded the original Girasol contract. Based upon the reputations of its founding company, Petrolite Corp., with more than 90 years experience as a leading supplier of equipment-based electrostatic separation technology, PETRECO is recognized around the world as a leader in the oil field, refineries, gas turbine power stations and petrochemical industries. Electrostatic separation is the most effective, economic and dependable technique for desalting crude oil. The PETRECO desalters are a critical first step in treating crude oil prior to crude processing in a refinery.
