Country Pure Foods Inc. is pursuing aggressive growth plans that include expanding out West and targeting baby boomers with a new line of healthoriented fruit juices.
The Akron-based fruit juice manufacturer plans to invest between $12 million and $15 million in a new plant west of the Rocky Mountains, said Dr. Ricardo Alvarez, Country Pure's CEO. Country Pure wants to increase its presence in the western half of the country, and the new plant would supply those states.
Some of Country Pure's business has come from selling its juices in retail outlets, but Dr. Alvarez said the bulk of its sales have been generated from its food service product business, which sells its juices to organizations such as schools, airlines and restaurants. Most of those sales also are in the eastern and southern states.
