Calgary-based Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) announced it would begin running longer trains across Canada and the United States as part of the company's latest drive to improve productivity.
About 50 per cent of CPR's main line trains will be affected by the new operating strategy, with some trams measuring up to 2,750 metres long and carrying up to 150 rail cars. Previously, the standard maximum length of CPR trains was about 2,200 metres, or 120 cars.
