MIAMI BEACH, FLA. - Crafting products and digital accessories are among the lead items making inroads into the office supplies industry-a trend confirmed at the recent SHOPA show, where these product categories, along with a familiar cast of characters, including iMac-style colors, licensed lines and improved writing instruments, were out in full force.
As home creativity continues to be a trend influencing new product introductions, many items designed for this end of the market were on display. Fiskars, for example, introduced their new non-stick scissors, designed with crafters in mind.
Staedtler introduced a new Hot Foil Pen that creates metallic images similar to hot foil stamping or embossing. It's held the same as ordinary writing instruments and requires two AA batteries to heat the pen's tip to melt the foil into the desired area. It's a quick fix for serious crafters.
No-heat laminators were popular with many companies, including Esselte's You2-Cool-Seal Laminator. Crafters and scrapbookers will find these products helpful, especially when working with children.
