The recent Toronto-based Comdex Canada '98 wrapped up with a Crystal Ball panel of experts intent on predicting which technologies will be hot and which will not.
But what emerged from the discussion was a concern for the issues regarding the people who use technology more so than the technology itself.
"There's way too much hype for new technology," said Jennifer Thompson, CIO for Midland Walwyn in Toronto.
"If somebody could come up with a way to hire people and keep them working for me productively and happily, I'd be interested...I don't read about technology. I'm interested in how to make this stuff work, not what it is," she said.
