When I was given the opportunity to review Dangerous Music's new stereo compressor, I have to admit 1 felt kind of like a kid on Christmas. A couple of years ago, I had the opportunity to review the company's Source monitor controller and was more than impressed. Like all of the company's creations I've had the chance to play with, the Dangerous Compressor stands alone in its class, offering a unique hybrid of features, functionality, and flexibility. As I found throughout my tests, the company is nothing if not consistent in the quality of its innovations.
Features & Descriptions
For starters, the Dangerous Compressor has a true bypass switch, meaning that when the compressor is not engaged, the signal is physically separate from all of the circuitry, allowing the engineer to hear a true A/B comparison of the treated signal.
There are two internal side chain controls consisting of a bass cut and a sibilance boost. When engaged, the bass cut makes the compressor less sensitive to low frequency energy and the sibilance boost makes it more sensitive to high frequency energy.These features can really tame the harshness of a track without having to adjust...
