The Gold Medal for Meritorious Service to the Accounting Profession is the highest honor the Society can bestow. Sheila M. Birch, CPA has served the profession throughout her career, leading her to be selected as the 2006 recipient of this prestigious award.
Birch's service to The Ohio Society includes serving on the Cleveland Chapter Board of Directors and numerous state committees. However, it's her service to the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) since 1994 where she has made her greatest contributions. She's served on various committees, the Board of Directors, and more recently on the Examination Review Board.
David A. Costello, NASBA president and CEO, applauds Birch's leadership as quietly effective, motivational, and service-oriented. "Though small in stature, Sheila is a giant in her vision, her ideas, her words of wisdom, and her passionate pursuit to improve the public's trust in the accounting profession....
