Scotts Valley, Calif. -- Borland International Inc. last week named Delbert Yocam, a former Apple Computer Corp. executive, as its new chairman and chief executive.
Yocam's first day on the job will be this week as he assumes a position considered something of a hot seat. Borland's last top candidate for the post, Dan Eilers, former chief executive of Claris Corp., came close to joining the company but backed off at the last minute, said sources close to the negotiations.
Yocam said he welcomes the challenge, however. Yocam served as Apple's executive vice president and chief operating officer from 1986 to 1988 and as president of Apple Pacific from 1988 to 1989. Following his stint at Apple, Yocam served as president and chief operating officer of Tektronix.
