An increase in the number of hospital beds, a new medical college, a multi-specialty health unit, more ambulances and dialysis units are among the highlights for the health sector in the Delhi Budget announced for 2014-15.
Hospital projects for Rs. 940 crore are currently under execution, which would provide over 1400 additional beds and through concerted efforts, over 900 doctors and 1100 nurses have been recruited for various health facilities in the past few months, according to the Budget.
Two of the largest hospitals, Lok Nayak Jaya Prakash and Guru Teg Bahadur that together cater to about a third of the patient load of hospitals of the Delhi government, are being transformed into model healthcare centers....
