* What does your company do? Ithaca Dispatch, Inc. started in 1998 after a merger between two smaller taxi companies, but has since grown into a regional transportation and packagedelivery business, John Kadar says.
* In addition to passenger services, what do you provide now? The company still has traditional taxi services, but massive shipping companies like DHL and FedEx also outsource Ithacaarea work to Ithaca Dispatch. Business from DHL alone brings in about $400 per day, Kadar says. "Larger package-delivery companies don't always have all the manpower they need," he says. "They don't always have the full resources and assets they need. A lot of times it's in some of the more rural areas that they need help." Ithaca Dispatch also provides Medicaid transportation for Tompkins County, taking Medicaid recipients to doctors' appointments. It also does jobs like delivering lost baggage for US Airways. About 35 percent of the company's business is now courier work, Kadar says.
