The design/build disadvantage

Abstract

Design/build (D/B)firms have come a long way in the AEC market in the last decade. However, there is one frontier the D/B revolution has yet to totally conquer: public-sector projects. In fact, depending on the region of the country and the type of public-sector work up for bid, D/B firms can still be effectively banned from competing for certain public-sector jobs due to lingering procurement laws that favor the design/bid/build formula.
