Robert Schlegel is such a die-hard Ohio State football fan who years ago, when he was operating a clinical research company from Beijing, China, he would fly home to catch the team from his 40-yard-line seats.
But in his newest business venture, Schlegel will have a much quicker trip to the horseshoe on football Saturdays.
His Carroll, Ohio-based Diramed LLC has received $25,000 from the 1st Fifty Fund to help Schlegel further develop a noninvasive blood glucose monitoring technology.
"It's noninvasive and that's the holy grail," Schlegel said. "Twenty two other companies have tried this and failed but we have quite different technology."
