If the VSDA had a "Best of Show" award for most entertaining panel it would clearly go to "DVD and the Filmmaker."
Movie critic Leonard Maltin was the moderator for the prestigious panel of film directors who spoke during the July 9 business session, which included Robert Altman, the veteran director of such classics as MA.S.H.; Gods and Monsters director Bill Condon; Antz co-director Eric Darnell; Nosferatu director Werner Herzog; and Rush Hour director Brett Ratner.
Most directors have long despised seeing their work squeezed onto the small screen, but DVD has clearly made the transition easier for them, the directors all agreed.
