Donald J. Dwyer, Sr., founder, chairman and CEO of The Dwyer Group, Waco, Texas, one of the world's largest franchise conglomerations, died suddenly of a heart attack on Dec. 4, 1994, in the Cayman Islands. Mr. Dwyer, who was 60, was a member of the Board of Directors of the International Franchise Association.
Mr. Dwyer's franchising career began in the 1970s as a franchisee of Success Motivation Institute. Later, he became the minority investor in a carpet cleaning franchise, and in 1981, he founded...
