Duke Energy Ohio Inc. issued a call June 20 for renewable energy for delivery during the 2009-2012 period that includes specific quantities of energy derived from solar sources.
The request for proposals is the Duke Energy Corp. subsidiary's first step to comply with Ohio's new renewables standard, part of an energy bill signed into law by Gov. Ted Strickland May 1. That law calls for 12.5% of electricity used in the state to come from renewables, at least half of that produced in state.
