Synergetics, a precision surgical too] manufacturer based in St. Charles, was the recipient of a $3 million industrial revenue bond generated by the Economic Development Center of St. Charles County. The bond allowed the company to build a new 34,000-square-foot facility in O'Fallon, Mo.
Synergetics, which makes medical devices and surgical instruments, is owned by Gregg Scheller and Kurt Gampp. The company's new facility in O'FalIon Corporate Center will nearly double its space. Employment is expected to grow from 85 now to 130 in two years.
Synergetics has been involved with EDC since one of its divisions, Creative Medical, was an EDC tenant in the mid-1990s.
"A company like Synergetics, they could be pretty much wherever they want to be, and so we're glad they've picked this area," said Greg Prestemon, president of the EDC, adding that the St. Charles area has much to offer new businesses.
