In a major reorganization aimed at expanding its industrial markets, Ellison Surface Technologies has acquired a division of an Austin, Texas firm and added four vice presidents.
The Hebron company applies high technology spray coatings using electric arc, plasma spray, conventional flame spray and HVOF (hypervelocity oxy-fuel) for aerospace and other industries, emphasizing quality and short-cycle delivery.
ACCELERATED TECHNOLOGIES ACQUISITION
Ellison Surface Technologies recently completed the acquisition of Accelerated Technologies, Inc., formerly a division of DTM Corp., which uses a new technology called Selective Laser Sintering to rapidly create working prototypes of complex parts and components. A major link between CAD and the prototype part, the system can interface directly with customers by modem to maximize speed and to assist with design manipulation.
Later this year, the company will add a new process called RapidTool, which will use powdered metals in a polymer binder to produce limited production tools with hardness in the range of P-20 steel. Accelerated Technologies will remain in Austin with its own management team.
EST REORGANIZATION
The company's reorganization will carry Ellison's successful core operations into new markets while the company expands its manufacturing process capabilities.
Three of its new vice presidents have recently joined the company while a fourth was appointed from within.
Brian K. Hitchcock, a newly appointed executive vice president and general manager, brings 13 years of broad-based business experience from such firms as AT&T (Bell Labs, NJ) and G.E. Aircraft Engine Group.
Tim Perkins, the new vice president of sales and marketing, brings 15 years of experience in thermal spraying and aerospace and commercial applications.
Jerry Ellison has been appointed vice president of engineering and quality after eight years with Ellison Surface Technologies and 20 years experience with G.E. Aircraft Engines.
