Last year proved to be a good one for Brazil's Embraer (ERJ), which posted sales in excess of R$5.2 billion (US$2.4 billion) and earnings of R$645 million (US$301.3 million), mainly driven by demand for the popular ERJ 135 140 145 regional jet family. Net earnings were 58.6 percent higher than the R$412.1 (US$192.3 million) in 1999, capping 14 consecutive quarters of profitability.
