Encarta Concise Encyclopedia (http://encarta.msn.com)
When it comes to encyclopedias, there are many superb and free resources on the Web. However, none of the general interest encyclopedias are available free of charge-except for the concise version of Encarta. The other general interest encyclopedias offer free trials, but after a week or so you must pay for using Britannica, Compton's, or Grolier. The latter two and the Concise Columbia Encyclopedia are available on America Online and/or CompuServe, but those implementations are rather poor. Don't even think of switching ISPs just for the encyclopedia content. If your ISP is Microsoft Network, you have access to Encarta Introductory edition, a nifty...
