Experience and good circumstances have helped Gene Robertson's U.S. Lawns franchise outpace his fellow franchisees' growth ... by about 800 percent.
A veteran landscaper, Robertson sold such services to residential clients before buying a US. Lawns franchise in 1999. While substantial growth is normal for a US. Lawns franchisee's first year, Robertson was somewhat an exception.
"He had improved his business 900 percent his first year with the company," says Paul Wolbert, director of franchise development for U.S. Lawns.
Most new franchisees, on the other hand, only double their business.
Based in Orlando, Fla., U.S. Lawns franchises provides a variety of landscaping services to businesses. "We'll do anything that needs to be done to a commercial property," says Robertson.
Operating by himself, Robertson's landscape business had about $30,000 in revenue. After his first year with U.S. Lawns, revenue had climbed to $250,000.
"It's been a lot easier since U.S. Lawns," says Robertson.
