Abstract
In this last part of a three-part series of a panel discussion, the panelists talked what key players at the helm of forward-looking organizations see as emerging environmental issues. They said that for the respondents, the top of the list directives this year were the Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment and Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment directives in Europe and global chemicals management programs. They stressed that some respondents indicated that directives affect them directly, while others indicated that their organizations would only be indirectly influenced by such directives. They noted that one respondent said that corporate social responsibility (CSR) is part of one of their seven corporate values (sustainability). CSR is also important as part of risk reduction and in the hiring and retention of talented employees. One respondent said that its value is seen across all segments -- throughout the business enterprise.
