TELECOMWORLDWIRE-(C) 1994-9 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD Ericsson, Hewlett-Packard (HP) and Telia have partnered for a pilot project to run WAP-based mobile Internet e-services on HP's electronic services platform, e-speak. In the trial Telia deploys e-speak, which allows secure interactions across firewalls without pre-negotiated names and standards, in its mobile network while Ericsson is contributing with its WAP systems and WAP-enabled terminals. Following the pilot project, the partners plan to launch an e-speak enabled wireless e- service to a select group of engineering firms. Using WAP phones and GSM-based positioning, the engineering firms' field engineers will be able to receive and update customer job information while on the road, as well as access the corporate phone and database directories.
