The marketing and communications giant recently launched its Government IT (information technology) practice to get a piece of the $155 billion industry. The practice, which is based in the firm's Washington, D.C., office and headed by Michael Smith (ex-Dow Chemical), will focus on every level of government: local, state and federal. In 2004, federal agencies awarded $155 billion alone in IT contracts, according to the research firm Input. Apogen Technologies, which provides technology programs to government, and Software AG, a data management firm aimed at the government, have joined forces with Euro Magnet to increase their visibility in the arena.
