Brandyn Schmelzer has been promoted to assurance manager at BDO USA LLP, in Woodbridge. In his new post, Schmelzer will manage audit engagements of both public and privately held companies. He earned a degree in public accounting from Pace University.

Michael Gormley has been named executive vice president, chief operating officer and chief financial officer of Harmony Bank, in Jackson. Prior to joining Harmony, he served in the same position at Community Partners Bancorp, in Middletown. He is a graduate of William Paterson University with a bachelor's degree in accounting.
Valley National Bank, a wholly ownedsubsidiary of Valley National Bancorp, has named Peter Hagdorn to the post of senior vice president/technical services manager. He joined Valley National Bank in 1992. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration/management from Montclair State University.
William Pifani has been named director of underwriting and portfolio management at TD Equipment Finance, in Cherry Hill. He has seven years of banking experience. He joined TD Equipment Finance in 2009 as a portfolio officer. He is a graduate of Philadelphia University.
