Name: Bill Callahan.

Background: Callahan was named March 13 as the 13th head coach of the Raiders - his first gig as a head coach. He came to Oakland from the Philadelphia Eagles in 1998 with his predecessor, Jon Gruden. He served as offensive coordinator. The Chicago native began his coaching career in 1980 at the University of Illinois, then moved to Northern Arizona, Southern Illinois and the University of Wisconsin.
Callahan and his wife, Valerie, have four children: Brian, 18 (entering UCLA as a quarterback); Daniel, 16; Cathryn, 11; and Jaclyn, 9.
Education: Illinois Benedictine.

BUSINESS PHILOSOPHY
Essential business philosophy: I believe strongly in preparation and competition. Preparation prevents poor performance, and competition is the No. 1 ingredient in any organization.
