Alien Skin Brings After Effects' Dynamic Power To Its Photoshop Plug-Ins
ye Candy version 3.1 for After Effects (AE) brings 20 new plug-ins to this popular package that endeavor to realistically simulate natural phenomena. Based on Alien Skin's Black Box and Boss plug-in packages for Photoshop, many of Eye Candy's filters have been seen as a useful addition to Photoshop's tool set for a number of years now. Eye Candy AE arrived in a 16mm film can with a single program CD, a little plastic alien critter (complete with its own instructions) and a 59-page spiral-bound manual. Though small, the documentation is quite effective, with concise explanations of each effect and parameter and, more importantly, plenty of large, clear photos showing the effects in action.
The program CD also includes sample movies of the effects in use, the AE projects used to create the sample movies, media for use in the sample projects, and demos of Alien Skin's other software packages.
Installation of the plug-ins is quick and easy. A self-extracting installer reduces this step to a simple double-click, with only a brief pause to enter your name, organization and the serial number supplied with the CD. A few seconds later and you're ready to launch AE and begin using your new Eye Candy effects.
It should be noted that, even though the After Effects version of Eye Candy contains many of the same tools and functionality as the Photoshop version-not to mention the same name and version number-they work differently and are not compatible with each other.
