FARALLON Communications Inc. is now shipping its new Netopia ISDN modem. The unit has features and service bundles aimed at addressing ISDN's reputation for being tough to configure and set up. Separate versions are available for Macintosh and PC environments.
Highlights include a serial-port speed as high as 230 Kbits per second, data compression that can condense files to 25 percent of their original size, an extra telephone jack that allows connection to two devices, and a unique toll-saver dialing function that can be used to take advantage of lower fees in areas where carriers offer discounts for voice-over-ISDN,...
