Thermage, which is typically used to tighten and lift facial skin, has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for use on other body parts, such as the upper arms and the abdomen. The procedure uses radio frequency technology to tighten skin and renew contours non-invasively. What makes the procedure available for off-face treatment is the development of a larger surface tip, measuring 3 centimeters, which can cover more area than the original 1.5 centimeter tip, therefore reducing the time it takes to perform the procedure. "The larger tip is great for anyone who wants to see results in larger areas such as around the belly button, back of the upper arms, hips, thighs, and lower chest to uplift the breasts," says dermatologist Marcy Street, M.D., founder of Doctor's Approach Skin & Hair Care Products.
