Fidelity Investments has lured Scudder Direct's new head of marketing, Todd Estabrook, tO oversee its advertising division, marking the second top marketer the firm has brought over from Scudder this month. Estabrook had just been promoted to head of marketing this month to replace Joan Bloom, who left to head marketing for Fidelity's retail mutual funds (FMA, 4/19). According to an insider familiar with Estabrook's move, Fidelity recruited Estabrook from Scudder after Bloom's departure. Estabrook had reported to Bloom at Scudder. Bloom did not help in luring Estabrook over to Fidelity, the insider said. Estabrook decided to take the position because he felt Scudder was too slow in implementing marketing initiatives to reach its goals, the insider said. A Scudder spokesman declined to comment on the specifics of Estabrook's departure. "We are in the process of merging our AARP Funds with the Scudder Direct Funds. We only started 60 days ago. It just so happens when mergers happen, people leave," he said. Estabrook declined to comment.
