Financial Engines has hired Kelly O'Donnell as its director of marketing, one of two positions recently created by Bill Thompson, executive v.p. of marketing. Asma Emneina, spokeswoman, said the second position created by Thompson--director of participant direct marketing--should be filled by the end of this quarter. The new director will be based in Palo Alto, Calif., and will report to Thompson. O'Donnell noted that she will work with the person who fills the position, which deals with the adoption of Financial Engine's services at the participant level. Emneina added that the new director will specifically focus on communication and education delivered to participants. O'Donnell explained that her newly created job was previously covered by several different employees and the firm moved to bring the various roles into a single position for the sake of efficiency. Emneina said that no employees were being let go as a result of the new leadership position.
