Nothing beats good, old-fashioned networking but our class of 2020 has made the most of digital opportunities, says Victoria Powell
Indielab Accelerator 2020 draws to a close at the end of this month and what a crazy online journey it’s been.
We, like many in the events world have been forced to move the whole shebang online. We were just one week away from the launch of our 2020 programme when lockdown forced us into creating something special for our participants.
Fifteen up and coming independent production companies from across the UK were signed up as the 2020 cohort, with a focus on diversity, with others from the nations and regions and London too. All share the fact that the broadcast community rates them as ones to watch.
In such a critical year, and with sponsors from the BBC, Channel 4 and Sony to Creative Wales and Scotland, we wanted to ensure we replicated as near as possible the impact of our previous programmes – leading to growth and sustainability for our indies.
