Lindquist Mortuaries has sold its Layton mortuary as a precursor to building a new facility at its Layton cemetery, a 26-acre site at 1867 No. Fairfield Rd.
The more than 100-year-old mortuary has sold its Layton mortuary to Lutheran Light of the Valley, which has been holding Sunday worship services in the building's chapel for some time, said Craig McMillan, general manager of Lindquist Mortuaries. The church did not have the funds for the total purchase price, "so let's just say we made them a sizable donation," McMillan said.
Lindquist did not anticipate building another mortuary in Layton. However, changes at the Kaysville/Layton cemetery prompted city fathers...
