FirstEnergy Corp. said Feb. 25 that it completed its merger with Allegheny Energy Inc., effective immediately.
The announcement follows the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission's Feb. 24 decision to approve the merger in agreement with conditions accepted by FirstEnergy. Pennsylvania's was the final regulatory approval of the deal necessary for its completion.
The companies' merger also received approvals from the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities, the Maryland Public Service Commission, the Virginia State Corporation Commission and the Public Service Commission of West Virginia.
