FirstEnergy Corp.'s board of directors on Oct. 29 announced it has terminated CEO Charles Jones Jr. following an internal review around the company's role in an alleged bribery scheme behind the passage of Ohio's nuclear subsidy law.
The company also announced the termination of its senior vice president of product development, marketing and branding, identified on the company's website as Dennis Chack, and its senior vice president of external affairs, identified as Michael Dowling. Neither was named in a company news release.
"During the course of the Company's previously disclosed internal review related to the government investigations, the Independent Review Committee of the Board determined that these executives violated certain FirstEnergy policies and its code of conduct," FirstEnergy said in the news release.
