PHORGOTTEN PHENOMENA:
The flange isolation kit is an important component used in conjunction with cathodic protection (CP) and corrosion control on piping systems and related equipment. The kits stop undesired current flow on piping systems and limit CP currents to the sections of the piping for which they are intended.
Other isolation devices are available, but flange isolation kits by far are the most commonly used. In most installations, flanged joints are usually available at valves, meters, or other appurtenances at or near the point where the corrosion engineer wants to stop the current flow. Installing a flange isolation kit at one of these flanged joints is the easiest and least expensive method of providing the desired electrical isolation....
