Jim Nalley has sold the car dealership that started his automotive empire in metro Atlanta.
And Steve Uiterwyk, the new owner, plans to make the former Nalley Chevrolet at 2555 Metropolitan Parkway, now called Airport Chevrolet, the cornerstone of new dealerships in Atlanta.
The Dec. 1 purchase of the Nalley franchise, owned by Asbury Automotive Group Inc. (NYSE: ABG), marks Uiterwyk's entrance into the Atlanta market. He also owns Central Florida Eurocars in Lakeland, Fla., which sells Mercedes-Benz, Volvo and Volkswagen vehicles.
"This is still a dynamic and growing market," said Uiterwyk, CEO of Fulton Motor Cars Inc. "This opportunity has been an underserved market. Nalley does a great job with their franchises, but they have other fish to fry. Their attention turned away from this store."
