FlowPoint Corp. has signed an agreement to use Alcatel Microelectronics' DynaMiTe Asymmetrical Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) Discrete Multitone (DMT) chipset and firmware in FlowPoint's ADSL router products. FlowPoint intends to use Alcatel's third generation rate-adaptive ADSL chipset, the MTK-20131, in its Model 2025 Router. "FlowPoint's Model 2025 Router communicates with the Alcatel ANT 1000 through {asynchronous transfer mode}, providing a two-box solution that transfers data, audio, and video services at speeds up to 8 Mbps," says Chuck Waggoner, president of FlowPoint. "The next generation of FlowPoint's ATM router will combine the new Alcatel DynaMiTe ADSL chipset and routing in a single box at a lower cost to business users." The DynaMiTe chipset is designed to be fully interoperable with issue 2 of the ANSI Standard T1E1.413 specification. (Paul Osiecki, Alcatel Microelectronics, 972/996- 2489.)
