Measure more than pH with this non-glass meter
This multiparameter meter measures pH, temperature, conductivity, total dissolved solids and salinity. Featuring a stainless steel pH probe and solidstate conductivity electrode, the IQ170 (photo, far left) is NEMA4X rated and can withstand harsh conditions says the manufacturer. - IQScientific Instruments, Inc., Carlsbad, Calif.

This portable NIR spectrometer can be used in the field
The tecSpec near infrared (NIR) spectrometer is designed to fit in a compact enclosure and is suited for spectral data acquisition in laboratory, process and field environments. The instrument can achieve measurement rates of up to g 1,000 spectra per second and offers maintenance-free operation using diode-array technology and thermoelectric cooling. The unit comes with a universal a.c.-input power supply and can alternatively be operated by 12 V d.c. Acquired spectral data are transferred to a computer via a USB interface. The tecSpec NIR 1.7 covers the spectral range between 960 and 1,690 nm and the tecSpec NIR 2.2 version allows for measurements in the range between 1,100 and 2,200 nm. - tecSUSA, Inc., Plainview, N.Y.

These gas analyzers detect ppb levels in industrial settings
These industrial Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) systems provide real-time, multicomponent, extractive gas-phase analysis for applications including process optimization and control, industrial hygiene and research. The Titan gas analyzer (photo, middle) is packaged with externally mounted, corrosion-resistant gas cells. Cell pathlengths range from 1 cm to 30 m. Thermal isolation from the spectrometer allows operation from ambient temperature up to 240°C, which in turn allows moist sample streams to be analyzed without condensation. The Titan systems can achieve parts-per-billion (ppb) detection levels for a variety of compounds including formaldehyde. - MIDAC Corp., Costa Mesa, Calif.
