L. James (Jim) Binder died on May 23 at his home on Lake Michigan in Mears, Mich. A native of Jackson, Mich., he was born on June 21, 1926. At age 17, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in World War II in the Pacific Theater aboard the destroyer Myles C. Fox. He later served as a lieutenant in the Michigan National Guard and Army Reserve.
