Recent moves by AT&T have put pricing pressure on the frame relay services market, providing users with a chance to fatten their pocketbooks with savings.
On the other hand, the carriers' conflicting pricing philosophies still make it difficult for users to compare services on an apples-to-apples basis.
Under the "user win" column, AT&T's recent frame relay and private-line price restructuring, plus the first-time publication of its frame relay rates (NW April 10, page 1), have primed the market for some good old-fashioned price warfare.
Users and analysts are expecting AT&T/s competitors to react--as the carriers typically do whenever AT&T makes a price cut--with price cuts of their own based on AT&T's tariffed rates. MCI Communications Corp. has already decided to publicize its frame relay prices in the wake of the AT&T move.

All of the carriers stress that users should team with them to evaluate which services best support different networked applications and configurations.
