Institute of Museum and Library Services Director Diane Frankel requested nearly $136.4 million for FY98 before the Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Hu man Services, Education and Related Agencies. The administration's request, same as the current FY97 appropriation, is the first budget request for federal library programs since last year's passage of the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) .
