Abstract

While many foods and beverages have entered the functional foods business, yogurt containing live and active cultures is likely in the best position to become the golden functional foods product. To meet consumers' needs, Brown Cow Farm, a part of Stonyfield Farm, introduces the first US yogurt to include whole grains. New Brown Cows Low Fat Yogurt with Fruit & Whole Grains combines low-fat yogurt, real fruit, whole grains, sunflower and flax seed to provide consumers a fresh-from-the-farm taste. Canada's Les Produits de Marque Liberte Inc markets Liberty Six Grains Stirred Yogurt. In the UK, Benecol, the pioneer of cholesterol-lowering foods, has launched One-a-Day Yogurts. Madrid, Spain's Priegola recently launched Simbi + Omega-3 Yogurt.
