Paul Kraft Sr. and Roger Royse, both members of families that have owned funeral homes in Southern Indiana for generations, have formed a partnership and plan to open Kraft/Royse Generations Funeral Home in New Albany in December.
Kraft Sr., the majority stockholder of Generations, said he missed the industry after about a year of retirement. He declined to disclose details of the company's ownership.
Kraft, 73, said he also wanted to have. a business the Krafts could pass down through the family. This was something he could no longer do after three of his sons, Paul Jr., Charles and Kurt, sold the only remaining Kraft Funeral Services facility, Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park on Charlestown Road, last year to Service Corporation International, a Houston-based conglomerate funeral service provider.
Meanwhile, Royse wanted to open a facility in New Albany to complement his Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home Inc....
