Who wants Norm's Inn, a.k.a. Rhino Joe's?
The dubious dive and biker bistro, until lately a venue for scantily clad entertainment, may be up for grabs this spring courtesy of the United States government.
Seized March 13 by the U.S. Marshal's Service and boarded up since then, the old-time bar and more recent hoochie-coochie house, at the northwest quadrant of Eagle and McMillan roads, may be sold for development.
Or it may not be. But one thing is sure: there won't be another naughty Norm's there.
A spokesperson for the U.S. Marshal's office in Boise said sale of the property as a commercial site would be "an option" after the final order of forfeiture comes through from U.S. District Court in Helena, Mont.
That's where the erstwhile Norm's proprietor, Joseph Leroy Lewis, was convicted (on Feb. 17) of conspiring to distribute marijuana and of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamines, according to a statement from the U.S. Attorney's office for Idaho.
Charges in the case, which originally named six defendants, involved shipments of controlled substances from Boise to Montana, according to reports. Sentencing of Lewis was set for May 19 in Helena.
