Note: Production interrupted - Mining major has declared force majeure: sources
A shortage of nitrogen gas has hit output at BHP Billiton's Kwinana refinery at the Nickel West operations in Western Australia.
"BHP Billiton's Kwinana nickel refinery is experiencing a shortage of nitrogen gas which has resulted in an interruption to the production of its nickel products," a company spokesman said late on December 16. "We continue to evaluate the situation and will keep our customers informed."
